Tacky to say the least. First room we had; sink didn't drain, fan in windowless bathroom broken, 3 of the 5 lightbulbs in the room were burned out, and we couldn't get into the room because the keys didn't work. So we complained and they moved us to another room in the other tower. The room was an exact duplicate. But the light bulbs worked. In general lots of kids and spring break young people, crowded, noisy, dark hall and the pool closed at 5pm. I would never stay there again. NO WAY this is a 4 star hotel. That is a joke.
I stayed at Excalibur twice in 2003 and once at Mandalay Bay. While not as upscale it was the best value I found for a newer hotel casino. The first time granted my view wasnt great and the line at check out was long and they were out of non smoking rooms however my room didnt smell of smoke. The second time I stayed there the view was good , the checkout was fast and everything was great. To the reviewer who griped about no tub in the room had you looked at the hotels website you would have seen that. I suggest no matter where you book your travel always check out their own site to get more info. Most of the times they offer you cheaper deals too. I wouldnt hesitate to stay there again.
We stayed here in October, 2003. Overall, I would recommend excalibur to everyone who wants a clean, decent room, good parking, and a great rate. We were able to park in the outdoor parking lot just outside the back. One problem was the long walk to get to the towers. Long check-in lines. The lady at the check-in was wonderful. We had weird arrangements and she patiently did a perfect job getting us checked in. The rooms were clean, but it was weird not having fitted sheets. The casino was good. Pretty big. I did pretty well on the slots, but I'm sure I just had a lucky night. One of my friends liked the poker room. Nice, laid back atmosphere. The game room downstairs wasn't very good. The tournament of kings was great, but the food wasn't very good. The buffet was okay, but could have been a lot better. Overall, this place is well worth the money and I would go back without a doubt.
Stayed here this past weekend. Was at the Luxor last time and signed up for a One Club Card. Called in for reservations and got a $284 convention Sat. rate for $99 with the One Card, other nights were discounted also. Only had 100 points on the card. Found the hotel check in to be quick, although we did arrived at 11:30pm. Had a room in Tower II that to our surpise also overlooked the strip (Go One Club!). The room was clean, and the bathroom very large with a tile shower. Perhaps this is a newer tower. The decor is a little garish with tapestries and drab wall paper, but I guess that goes along with hotel theme. Just not as elegant as some other hotels. The buffet was mediocre, recommend the breakfast buffet over lunch or dinner. No luck on slots for us, but friends had good payouts. The staff was friendly and dealers very helpful at the tables. They are the ones that made it an above average stay. $10 minimum table bet to get credit on One Card though. The lounge band was okay, but got a little old after four nights. Overall, we had a good experience at Excalibur. Thought it was a good value for what we paid over a weekend stay.
We used to think there was some sort of minimum standard for hotels in general. That was before we stayed at Excalibur. This hotel is absolutely unacceptable! Unless, of course, you prefer bed linens with cigarette burn holes. There was no bath tub and the shower had very tacky plexi-glass doors (70s style!). Also, the toilet paper is about 30 miles from the toilet--impossible to reach without getting up. There was a hole in the bathroom ceiling where they had installed a fire sprinkler and never come back to patch it. The ceiling (remember that old popcorn texture?Still there.) was sagging in the corner of our room. There was no thermostat, and the "air conditioner" can be set on "Low" or "High", but Low doesn't work. The high setting sounds kind of like a lawnmower-makes sleeping difficult at best. We thought we might just be spoiled, but everyone we told (cab drivers, waitstaff, etc) laughed at us for staying there. One hotel employee called it a "cinder block prison" and told us he wouldn't allow his family to stay there (even though he gets FREE rooms!). We switched hotels as soon as we could!
I did the express check-in and when we arrived at the hotel, walked straight to the counter and was checked in! The staff that we did encounter was very pleasant! We were very impressed with the hotel! The strip was much cleaner than I had imagined! The room was cleaned and serviced everyday throughout our stay! The slot machines were not as "loose" as i expected them to be in Vegas, but we did win a little money. Although my boyfriend and I didn't visit the chapel - we did realize just how much we REALLY love each other and can't do without the other in Vegas! He proposed! We are planning to return next year! We enjoyed our stay at the Excalibur and our time in Vegas! |
